Biography

Dieter Schmitt was a foil fencer competing for the mixed German team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where he was eliminated in the first rounds of the individual foil. In 1961 he was West German individual foil champion. Although Schmitt was only a substitute with the 1960 German foil team, he was awarded a bronze medal. He was a member of the West German men’s foil team that finished second at the 1959 World Championships.
