Biography

Vilém Tvrzský won several first prizes in tournaments in Czechoslovakia, Germany, and Austria. His preferred weapon was the foil with which he won the Bohemian and Czechoslovakian championships, respectively, in 1913 and 1925. In the Czechoslovakian championships he additionally placed third in 1921 and 1922. Tvrzský was selected to represent Bohemia at the 1906 Intercalated Games but did not start. He then competed with foil, épée, and sabre in the 1908, 1912, and 1920 Olympic Games. In 1912, he was the best Bohemian fencer in the individual foil event, qualifying for the semi-final.

Tvrzský worked as cashier for the Municipal Savings Bank in Praha (Prague).
