Biography

As the East German national team won the inter-national qualification matches in 1963 against the West German amateur national team by a 3-0 win in Leipzig and a 2-1 loss in Hannover, the German Olympic team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics was an East German one. The team won the bronze medal, beating Egypt, 3-1.

Defense Klaus-Dieter Seehaus played nationally with SC Empor Rostock, later renamed to FC Hansa Rostock. From 1960-73 he appeared 261 matches in the East German Oberliga and scored four goals. Internationally Seehaus earned 10 caps with the former GDR national team. After his active career he worked as a coach. He then worked as an economist at Rostock Seereederei and the Rostock service combo. After German reunification Seehaus became unemployed and fell into alcohol abuse. He died from this illness at only 53 years of age in Rostock in 1996.
