Biography

Enrique Guedes took up shooting in his youth, which was a skill that served him well when he participated in the Cuban Revolution of the 1950s. Following the conflict, he worked as a shooting instructor and won his first national title in 1963. He was chosen to represent Cuba in the small-bore rifle, prone, 50 metres event at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where he placed 61st. He fared much better in that event at the 1970 Central American and Caribbean Games, taking silver in the team event and bronze individually. He then went on to capture silver in the small-bore rifle, 3 positions team competition at the 1971 Pan American Games.
