Hans Denver was a civil engineer by profession. Between 1905-42 he was four times elected chairman of his club, the Aalborg Amts Skytteforening, serving for a total period of 12 years. He was instrumental in improving the firing ranges of the club and organizing competitions. During World War II, Denver was forced to leave Aalborg, and his club, because he was involved in resistance activities against the German occupation. After World War II, Denver wrote a genealogy of his family.
At the Stockholm Olympics, he resigned after two of the three positions in the free rifle event, possibly because he was at that point the lowest scoring Danish shooter. In his youth, he was also an avid chess player.
