Biography

A career military man, Esa Kervinen was the top Finnish rifle shooter from the 1950s into the 70s. During his career, Kervinen competed at three Olympic Games, his best finishes being sixth in small-bore rifle, three positions in 1960 and in free rifle, three positions in 1964. At the World Championships, he won one gold (1974 team small-bore rifle, prone), two silvers and eight bronze medals. At the European Championships, Kervinen won one gold (1963 individual military rifle, Norwegian match), eight silvers and four bronze medals.
