Emil Lindewald attended school until 1873. He then made his diploma as master brewer at Weihenstephan’s technology college near München (Munich) in Germany. Over the next years he worked as a master brewer in Finland (1883-90) and Eskilstuna (1890-91). He returned to Finland to become a vice-director of a brewery in Helsinki, a position he held until 1904. From 1904 to 1912 he was director of Stockholm’s Brewery. Lindewald competed in two individual running target shooting events, placing eighth in the double shot. He had two sons with his German wife Emma Karolina, née Grube. They lived on Lidingö island close to Stockholm.
