Robert Pirie had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1934 British Empire Games 4×200 yards Freestyle Relay (with George Larson, Robert Hooper, and the non-Olympian George Burleigh), 1st in the 1938 British Empire Games 110 yards Freestyle, 1st in the 1938 British Empire Games 440 yards Freestyle, 2nd in the 1934 British Empire Games 1500 yards Freestyle, 2nd in the 1938 British Empire Games 1650 yards Freestyle, 2nd in the 1938 British Empire Games 4×220 yards Freestyle Relay (with Robert Hooper and the non-Olympians George Burleigh and Gordon Devlin), 2nd in the 1938 British Empire Games 3×110 yards Medley Relay (with Gordon Kerr and the non-Olympian Jimmy Prentice), 3rd in the 1934 British Empire Games 440 yards Freestyle.
