Lothar Gericke was a member of the East German 4x100 freestyle relay, finishing fifth at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He swam for Berliner TSC and was teamed nationally with Frank Wiegand, Horst-Günter Gregor and Udo Poser. In 1971 he earned his only East German national title with the 4x100 relay of Berliner TSC.
