Biography

Peter Bermel was a West German swimmer who finished fifth and eighth respectively in the 200 and 400 IM at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1985, he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in the 200 IM event. In 1986, he was an unfortunate fourth in the 200 IM at the Madrid World Championships. Domestically, he won the 200 IM titles five times in 1985-87, and 1989-90, and also the 400 IM titles in 1985, 1987, and 1989. Bermel later became a management consultant in the IT sector.

Personal Bests: 200 medley – 2:03.71 (1991); 400 medley – 4:22.78 (1988).
