Biography

German diver Paul Günther won a gold medal at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics on springboard. His teammates Hans Luber, Kurt Behrens and Albert Zürner came in second, third, and fourth, underlining the German dominance in this event. In the plain high diving event Günther also reached the final, but withdrew due to an injury. In 1910-12 and 1920 Günther was German springboard champion, and in 1906 he came in second at the Europeans. In 1988 Günther was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
