Biography

Kenji Watanabe was a breaststroker who swam at the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympics, competing in both breaststroke events in 1984 and 1992, and the 100 breast in 1988. He made the final of the 200 breaststroke in 1992, finishing seventh. Watanabe won the Asian Games title in the 200 breaststroke in 1986 and 1990. His grandfather, Hisakichi Toyoda, won a gold medal in the 1932 Olympic 4x200 free relay.
