Biography

During his career, Lithuanian sprinter Raimundas Mažuolis competed at three Olympic Games (1988, 1992 and 1996), winning silver as a member of the Soviet 4x100 freestyle relay team in 1988, at the 1994 World Championships, winning bronze in the 50 metre freestyle, and at three European Championships (1989, 1993 and 1995), winning bronze in the 1989 100 freestyle and 1993 50 freestyle. At the Soviet Championships Mažuolis won the 1989 100 freestyle title and won 50 metre bronze medals in 1988-89. After the 1996 Olympics Mažuolis emigrated to the United States and, after receiving US citizenship in 1998, represented his new country.

Personal Best: 50 m freestyle – 22.08 (1993); 100 m freestyle – 49.50 (1993); 200 m freestyle – 1:54.95 (1987).
