Biography

Ukrainian Marina Yurchenya made her international début at the 1974 European Championships, where she won bronze in the 200 metre breaststroke. At the 1975 World Championships, Yurchenya reached the final of the 100 breaststroke, but had to settle for last place in the final. At the 1976 Olympics, Yurchenya won silver in the 200 breaststroke and was sixth in the 100 breaststroke. Domestically, Yurchenya won two Soviet titles, both in the 200 breaststroke, in 1975 and 1976.

Personal Best: 100 m breaststroke – 1:13.96 (1976); 200 m breaststroke – 2:36.08 (1976).
