Biography

Ann Marshall swam at the Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and then attended the University of North Carolina. She swam at the 1972 Olympics when she was only 15-years-old. She later won the 1976 AIAW title in the 200 yard freestyle. At UNC she was named All-American 18 times, and was the first female scholarship swimmer for the Tar Heels.

Marshall settled back in Fort Lauderdale, where she became a senior client associate with Merrill Lynch. In 2002 she was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Team. She is a member of the Broward County (Florida) Sports Hall of Fame and the North Carolina Swimming Hall of Fame. Pine Crest School gives The Ann Marshall Award at its annual Woodson Invitational Meet to the top female swimmer.
