Biography
Kendis Moore was a backstroke specialist who had her greatest year in 1967. She won the 100 and 200 backstroke at the Universiade and at the 1967 Pan American Games added a silver in the 200 backstroke, and a gold in the medley relay. Moore just missed a medal at the 1968 Olympics, placing fourth in the 100 metre back. Moore graduated from Arizona State and then earned a masters degree there in nursing. She became a nurse practitioner, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. When starting her career in that specialty, she looked for a helpful, easy-to-read book for expectant mothers, but not finding a good one, wrote her own, Preparing for a Healthy Baby.
