In 1983 at the Pan-American Games she was silver medalist in the 200 free, and won a gold medal on the 4x100 freestyle relay. In those two events at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she won gold medals, and returned in 1988 to earn a silver and bronze in relay events. She added gold at the 1985 Pan-Pacific meet in the 4x200 free relay, and in 1986 won a silver medal in the 4x200 free at the World Championships.
