Biography

Andrew Strenk swam for Southern Cal, graduating in 1971, and later earned a masters’ degree from the Universität Würzburg (Germany) in 1975. Returning to USC, Strenk earned a PhD in European history and later became a lecturer at Southern Cal. Strenk swam for the US at the 1967 Pan American Games, winning a bronze medal in the 1,500 freestyle. After the 1968 Olympics he won three gold medals at the 1970 Universiade, in the 400 and 1,500 free and on the 4x200 freestyle relay. He later wrote extensively on sport and international relations. Strenk would leave academics to serve as an international business and development consultant and as a principal with Strategic Planning Concepts International.
