Biography

Kirk Everist played water polo at U Cal Berkeley, where he was 1988 NCAA Player of the Year, and was named All-American three times. He led the Bears to NCAA titles in 1987 and 1988. Everist was on the US national team from 1988-96, appearing at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. He helped win gold medals at the 1991 Pan American Games and Universiade.

Everist later became a water polo coach. He was a coach for 11 years at Miramonte High School in California, leading them to nine league titles. In 2002 he was named head coach at his alma mater. Everist led the Bears to back-to-back NCAA titles in 2006-07. He also coached the USA at the 2009 Universiade. In 2004 Everist was inducted into both the Cal Athletic and the USA Water Polo Halls of Fame.
