Biography

Mariano “Tito” Ortíz played basketball for Puerto Rico at three Olympic Games, those of 1968, 1972, and 1976. In the National Superior Basketball (BSN) league he was legendary with the Bayamón Cowboys, playing for them for 17 seasons, during which time he was named Rookie-of-the-Year in 1965 and helped them win five consecutive league titles in the 1970s. He eventually retired after leading the Cowboys to eight championships.
