Biography

High jumper Hendrik Beyer failed to reach the final at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. He competed at the 1993 and 1995 World Championships, but again failed to get out of qualifying, and placed seventh at the 1993 World Indoor Championships. In the European Indoor Championships he won bronze in 1994 and placed 15th in 1992. In 1994 he won the European Cup, placing fourth in 1993 and 1995. In 1993 to 1994 he won the German national title and was German indoor champion in 1994. He retired in 1996, making a brief abortive comeback in 2006, which ended when he tore a meniscus.

After some short studies in physiotherapy Hendrik stepped into the family business that produces technology and music for telephone queues, eventually taking over as general manager for his father.
