Biography

Michael Stolle was a German pole vaulter who finished an unfortunate fourth at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics with the same mark as all the medal winners Nick Hysong, Lawrence Johnson, and Maksim Tarasov. At Atlanta in 1996, Stolle was placed ninth. Internationally, he won three silver medals at the European Indoor Championships (1998), the Military World Games (1999), and the World Indoor Championships (2003).

Stolle won the national outdoor title in 1996, and the indoor title in 1997-98, and 2001. From 2003, until her death from breast cancer in 2016 at the age of only 44 years, he dated ZDF sports reporter Jana Thiel.

Personal Best: PV – 5.95 (2000).
