Biography

Tony Washington threw the discus for the United States at three Olympic Games (1992-2000), just missing a medal in 1996 when he finished fourth. Washington’s biggest athletic moment came in 1999 when he won the discus gold medal at the World Championships. He also won gold medals in 1991 and 1999 at the Pan American Games and at the 1992 World Cup, and took silver at the 1991 World University Games. Washington won four USA titles with the discus (1991, 1993, 1996, 1999). He attended college at Syracuse University, graduating in 1990. He placed second at the 1989 NCAA Meet and third in 1987.
