Biography

Ilse Hornung was second at the first ever ladies’ singles event at European Championships in Vienna in 1930 behind her compatriot Fritzi Burger. She only competed in one World Championship in 1929 placing fourth. In her only Olympic appearance, she finished eighth in St. Moritz 1928.

Nationally, she had two podium places, third in 1930 and second in 1930. She also competed in the Deutsche Kampfspiele, a German version of the Olympic Games, implemented after World War I, winning a bronze medal in 1930 behind her teammates Burger and Melitta Brunner.
