Biography

Jaana Savolainen won all her international championship medals in the relay. At the 1988 Winter Olympics she won bronze and added gold at the 1989 World Championships. Her best individual places at Olympic Winter Games and World Championships were 18th in pursuit in 1992 and 16th in 10 km in 1989. She also won the 10 km event at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 1986. After her sporting career Savolainen worked as a massage and acupuncture therapist and also as a cross-country skiing coach. She also worked as a commentator with the TV channel Eurosport.
