Biography

During the 1930s, Arnold Kaech studied law in several countries, including Switzerland, France, the United States, and Canada, and served in the Swiss military. He held the rank of Lieutenant when he was selected to represent Switzerland in the military ski patrol demonstration event at the 1936 Summer Olympics. There, alongside Josef Jauch, Eduard Waser, and Josef Lindauer, he finished seventh in a field of nine teams. After working several years as a lawyer, Kaech went on to have a career in civil service and the military, often in roles related to sport, and for many years held the position of Secretary General for the International Ski Federation. He also served as a member of the Swiss Olympic Association. He retired from his working life in 1979, but remained active in sport.
