Heather Petri was a four-time water polo Olympian for the United States, winning a gold medal in 2012 after silvers in 2000 and 2008, and a bronze in 2004. She also appeared at four World Championships, winning gold medals in 2003, 2007, and 2009, with a silver in 2005. Petri added a gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games.
Petri played in college at U Cal Berkeley, graduating in 2002 with a degree in integrative biology. She played professionally in Italy with Rari-Nantes in 2004-06.
Petri later became a water polo coach, serving as an assistant at her alma mater under former Olympic teammate Coralie Simmons. Petri was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.
