Biography

West German ice dancer Rainer Schönborn skated with Petra Born from 1981-85 and competed regularly both at the Europeans and the Worlds. In 1985 they had their best season, placing fifth at the Worlds and winning a European bronze medal. At the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics they finished ninth. In 1981 and 1982 the couple was runner-up at the West German nationals and from 1983-85 they won three national titles in a row.

Schönborn earned a degree in business administration and worked as a key account manager in a marketing and sales company. He and his wife raised three children.
