Biography

German Stefan Ustorf, son of ice hockey coach Peter Ustorf and sister of artistic gymnast Michaela Ustorf, who participated in the 1988 Seoul Summer Games, was an ice hockey forward who competed at four Winter Olympics with German teams in 1994 at Lillehammer, 1998 at Nagano, 2002 at Salt Lake City, and 2006 at Torino, finishing seventh, ninth, fifth, and tenth, respectively. He won 126 international caps and scored 17 goals.

In Germany, Ustorf played at club level with ESV Kaufbeuern (1989-94) and then moved to the North American pro league NHL. He played with Portland Pirates (1994-97), in between with Washington Capitals (1995-96), and then with Las Vegas Thunder (1998-99), Detroit Vipers (1999) and Cincinnati Cyclone (1999-2001) before returning to Germany when he played for Adler Mannheim (2001-03), Krefeld Pinguine (2003-04) and finally Eisbären Berlin (2004-12). He helped Berlin win six national titles 2005-06, 2008-09, and 2011-12.

After his retirement Ustorf became sporting director at Eisbären Berlin. In 2021 he moved to Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the same position. He was inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016.
