Cycling Track at the 1936 Summer Olympics

Dates 6 – 8 August 1936
Medal Events 4

The program was the same as in 1932, with the kilometre time trial, match sprint, tandem match sprint, and team pursuit, which were held in a specially built temporary Cycling Stadium that was only finished on 1 July 1936. The track had a 400 metre wooden surface, the first ever at the Olympics, which led to fast times in the track events. Germany won both the match sprint (Toni Merkens) and tandem sprint, while France took the team pursuit and Arie van Vliet won the kilometre time trial.
