The program was the same as in 1952 and it would stay the same thru 1984, with men’s and women’s events in downhill, giant slalom, and slalom. The men’s giant slalom was held on Monte Faloria, which overlooked the town of Cortina. All the other events were contested at Ski Area Tofana. Both areas were high in the Dolomites with the longer races starting above 2,200 metres, and even the slaloms starting at around 1,700-1,800 metres.
