Alpine Skiing at the 1998 Winter Olympics

Dates 9 – 21 February 1998
Medal Events 10

The speed events, downhill and super-G, and the combined events took place in Hakuba, a ski resort in the Nagano District, with the events held on the Happo-O-ne ski area. The technical events were held at the Shiga Kōgen ski resort in Yamanouchi, a small town in the Nagano District, with both the men and women’s giant slaloms contested on Mt. Higashidate (Higashitateyama), and the slaloms held on Mt. Yakebitai (Yakebitaiyama). A major problem with the 1998 Alpine events was the weather, which delayed the start of the men’s downhill by three days, the women’s downhill by two days, and the women’s super-G by one day.
