Biography

German curler Michael Schäffer participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, when curling was a demonstration event, and finished eighth. At the 1998 Nagano Olympics, his team again placed eighth. At World Championships, Schäffer won a silver medal in 1997, and two bronze medals in 1994 and 1995. He collected European titles in 1992 and 1997.

Schäffer won four national championships with his home club, Curling Club Füssen (1990, 1994-95, 1997). He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
