Biography

Florin Zalomir was a Romanian sabre fencer. After competing at the 2003 European Fencing Championships, Zalomir joined the Foreign Legion, serving for two and a half years in France and Afghanistan. Zalomir had multiple success with the Romanian fencing team, including winning gold at the 2009 World Championships in the team sabre. Zalomir also won two bronze medals at the World Championships, along with a team gold and two silver medals at the European Championships. At the 2012 London Olympics Zalomir won the silver medal in the team sabre event. After the Olympics he became a coach. In October 2022 Zalomir committed suicide. He was 41.
