Biography

Franjo Gartner was a Slovenian cyclist who competed for Yugoslavia in the 1930s. In 1933 Gartner finished third in the Yugoslavia national road race championships, repeating the feat three years later. His performances earned him a spot in the road race at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he was in the main peloton of more than 20 riders who tied for 16th place, just three seconds behind the winning time. One year later Gartner finished third in the annual Race Through Yugoslavia, finishing behind August Prosenik and Stjepan Grgac.
