Biography

In 1959 Uruguayan cyclist Juan José Timón won silver in the 4,000 metres team pursuit at the Pan American Games in Chicago. One year later Timón rode in the same event at the 1960 Roma Olympics, in addition to competing in the individual road race at the Games. After winning a couple of stages of the Vuelta del Uruguay he then won bronze in the team time trial at the 1962 UCI Road World Championships in Italy. The following year Timón won gold in both the team road race and the 4,000 metres team pursuit at the Pan American Games in São Paulo, before riding in the team pursuit on the track at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Following victory in the overall classification at the 1965 Vuelta del Uruguay he turned professional, signing with the Italian team Molteni. With little success as a professional, Timón retired from the sport in 1967, later working as a coach.
