Biography

Miroslav Vymazal was a Czech track sprinter who formed one of the top tandem sprint teams in the world with Vladimír Vačkář. Together they were World Amateur Champions in the tandem sprint in 1973, 1974, 1977, and 1978. In 1979 they won the Grand Prix de Copenhague in the open tandem sprint, placing third that year at the worlds. Vymazal and Vačkář had very poor fortune as the tandem sprint was eliminated as an Olympic event after the 1972 Olympics, preventing them from a chance at Olympic gold in 1976.
