Biography

German fencer Olga Oelkers won the bronze medal at the 1928 Amsterdam Games in individual foil, and in 1936 was eliminated in the semi-finals. She was German Champion in 1928, 1930, 1932, and 1933 for the Deutsche Turnerschaft, and in 1932 for the German Fencing Association. In 1936 Oelkers won the Europeans in team foil after a silver in 1934 and bronze in 1935. Her fencing master was Arturo Gazzera, son of her teammate Fritz Gazzera. Oelkers later became a housewife and raised five children.
