Biography

Jacques Coutrot won two Olympic fencing medals in team foil, with a gold in 1924 and a silver in 1936. He finished second at the World Championships four times – in individual foil in 1931, 1933, and 1937, and in 1937 in team foil. He was French Champion with the foil in 1926 and with the épée in 1939. Coutrot later worked in sports administration, serving as President of the Fédération Internationale d’Escrime (FIE) from 1949-52.
