Biography

Steffen Wiesinger was a German sabre fencer who finished fifth with the team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Four years later at Atlanta the team then finished a disappointing eighth when, individually, Wiesinger also finished in eighth place. In 1993, he won bronze medals both individually, and with the team, at the World Championships.

Wiesinger won another two individual bronze medals, at the 1993 and 1997 European Championships. Domestically he captured national titles in 1998 and 1999. He later married teammate Susanne König whose sister Rita and her husband Uwe Römer were both Olympians. By profession, Wiesinger became a tax consultant.
