Biography

A striker, Aruban Juan Briezen scored Curaçao’s only ever goal in the Olympic Games, when he pulled back Turkey’s 2-0 lead with a 79th minute effort in their first round clash in 1952. However, his goal came too late, and Curaçao were eliminated in their one and only Olympic match. For Briezen, it was one of three goals he scored in six international appearances. He won a gold medal at the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games in Guatemala with the Netherlands Antilles selection, representing the NAOC. He also took part in the 1953 CCCF (Confederación Centroamericana y del Caribe de Fútbol) Championship.
