Biography

Thulukhanam Shanmugam was a student at Austin Town High School and RBANMS High School. He represented Maharaja Socials and Bangalore Student Football Club in the Bangalore Senior Division League but he came to notice when he joined the Sullivan Police Sports Club of the Bangalore Police Force in 1941. Shanmugam captained the Mysore team that won the Santosh Trophy in 1946 and 1952, and played on the winning Indian team at the 1951 Asian Games. He later became a coach, leading Karnataka to a victory at the Santosh Trophy, and won Federation Cup titles with Goa’s Salgaocoar Sports Club.
