Silvia Hindorff was a member of the bronze medal winning East German women’s gymnastics team at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. Individually she failed to reach a final. At the 1978 and 1979 World Championships she won team bronze medals. In 1978, she won her only East German national title on floor exercise. By profession, Hindorff graduated as a sports teacher, and became a gymnastics coach and physiotherapist. Her son Sven Hafemeister became an amateur wrestler, later turning professional.
