Biography

Stela Perin was born in Arad. A member of the Romanian women’s Olympic gymnastics team in 1952, she was the most successful out of her eight teammates, scoring 71.85 individual points for a 25th place finish out of 134 competitors in individual all-around. She also placed in the top-30 in floor exercise and horse vault events. One of the top female gymnasts in her country of the 1950s, Perin won national titles at the Romanian National Championships in vault (1950, 1951, 1952, 1953) and floor exercise (1952, 1953 and 1954). She later became a gymnastics coach, and was awarded the title master of sports.
