Biography

Kenny Griffin started gymnastics at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles and then represented the Los Angeles Athletic Club. He then attended Compton Junior College, where he competed in gymnastics, and was on the track and football teams. He later went to UCLA where he was on the gym team and threw the javelin on the track team. After the Olympics he returned to Los Angeles and became a high school teacher at Eagle Rock High School, where he also coached gymnastics, football, and track. In World War II Griffin served in the US Navy, where he was a training instructor to help get the sailors in condition. On his return he taught physical education and coached at Los Angeles City College. Griffin also became a top amateur golfer in the Los Angeles area.
