Biography

Rower Heinrich Bender was a member of the German coxed eights that was eliminated in the repêchage at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Four years earlier at Amsterdam, he was a reserve but did not compete. He was a German Champion in 1931 with the Mannheimer Ruderverein Amicitia 1876 coxed eights team, having previously being a German rugby champion in 1927 and 1928 with Heidelberger RK 1872. He obtained a teaching doctorate and became a high school teacher. In 1943 he was killed-in-action during World War II in the Gulf of Corinth.
