Biography

German rower Andreas Hajek was a triple Olympian from 1992-2000, winning two gold medals (1992-96) and a bronze (2000) with the quadruple sculls. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1992, Germany’s highest sports award. At World Championships, Hajek won five gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

On a national level, Hajek won five former GDR and nine German titles, after re-unification. He later became an entrepreneur and ran a bicycle shop in his hometown Halle on Saale.
