Biography

Between 1961 and 2004, Hugo Chamberlain won 42 Costa Rican national titles in rifle shooting. Internationally, he represented his country in six events across three editions of the Olympics – 1968, 1972, and 1976 – and served as the national flagbearer in Munich. His best result at the Games was in the small-bore rifle, three positions, 50 metres event in 1976, where he placed 54th. He had better luck at the Central American championships, where he won nine titles across three editions of that tournament, and he also competed at three editions of the Pan American Games. By career, he was an academic and businessman, but he also remained involved in the administration of sport shooting.
