Biography
Vilho Vauhkonen competed in the 1912 and 1920 Olympic Games, winning two team bronze medals in 1920 (military rifle, prone position and running deer, double shot). For many years, ambiguities in the Official Report of the Antwerpen Games were led to believe that Vahkonen also won bronze in the individual event. In 1912, he also claimed the Finnish title in the free rifle competition.
Vauhkonen was a factory worker who moved to Helsinki as a boy and joined the Reippase sports club. After he joined the Kisa-Veikko club, he immediately became a member of the board. Internationally, he represented Suomen Metsästysyhdistys.
