Biography

Magdalene Epply-Staudinger burst onto the international scene by winning the 1931 European Championships in the platform diving event and also winning the springboard silver. She then competed at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and finished sixth and seventh respectively in the springboard and platform events. At the 1936 Berlin Games she was not in her best form anymore, and placed 12th and 21st.

Epply-Staudinger won the Austrian Championships in both events from 1930-39. Also in an international match between Berlin and Wien (Vienna), she won against German diver Ilse Meudtner

Epply married Josef Staudinger and both were often photographed by Austrian sports journalists as they were a popular media attraction. Epply divorced in 1942 and married again. She owned a hairdressing salon at Wien (Vienna) and was interested in skiing and skating.
